Colleges Creative Writing

Edwin Said:

What are some ideal colleges for a writer/creative writing professor?

We Answered:

Smith College has a great writing program and offers a ton of financial aid. You might be better off at a small liberal arts college instead of a large university for these topics. You'll do your PhD somewhere else anyway, and you will need a PhD to teach college (and a lot of luck - those jobs are very hard to get).

Edward Said:

What are the best colleges for majoring in creative writing?

We Answered:

Correct, Middleburry is an excellent school for writing. In the Ivy leagues, Yale is renowned for all of its humanities programs and is probably your best bet among them. You can't go wrong with Harvard, they are great at everything. I do not think that either Upenn or Cornell would be your best options because they focus more on the sciences (correct me if i'm wrong). Of the rest, I think they all have good humanities programs with Princeton on top.

Good luck
