High IQ, Low Grades??

We Answered:

It sounds to me like you've proved your family wrong. There is nothing in your post that indicates that you necessarily have a passion for accounting or that you plan to spend a long time in that field. Instead, it sounds as if you need something that allows you more room to use your creativity, natural curiosity, and logic. You already know some areas that excite you, so you are ahead of the game in that sense. The following free career test might also give you some additional insight: http://www.questcareer.com/career_assessment_resources.html

I would change your major to something that you feel excited about, as you will not do well in a subject that you subconsciously experience ambivalence toward. You might even be subconsciously sabotaging yourself in order to justify a future move. Schooling is expensive; make sure you're getting the most out of your investment by learning about something that will give you years of satisfaction personally and professionally. If your family does not respond well to your decision to switch majors, you might point out that your grades indicate that you are not necessarily compatible with that career choice. Good luck!

I was fired for personal reasons?

You need to explicitly invoke your Weingarten rights (the right to have a Union representative present if there is a possibility of disciplinary action). You do have a right to have a Union representative present if you are written up, but you have to ask for it.

Here is a good summary of your Weingarten rights:

You can try to find an attorney to represent you, but my guess is that you don't have a case and you won't be able to find an attorney to pursue this. But you can always try.

The type of attorney you would want is one that specializes in Labor and Employment law, and that represents employees (many attorneys with this specialization represent management more often than they represent employees, but there are some who do specialize in representing employees).

1st year univeristy student CONFUSED ABOUT ESSAY QUESTION?

We Answered:

If you agree, then your discussion should include the points to support why you agree with the statement. The "discuss" is placed there to avoid getting an answer such as "yes, I agree." and nothing else.

You discussion should include example showing how the statement is true. But I have to admit, the question seems to be missing something.

Kristin Said:

Here is my basic proposal on a new system of public education. What is your opinion?

We Answered:

I don't see where this plan is any (or much) different than what is currently in place. I graduated from high school 5.5 years ago and in high school, and I had:

4 years of English/Literature
2 years of Math
4 years of Science
2 years of World History
1 year of US History
1 semester of US Government
1 semester of Economics
1 semester of communications
3 semesters of electives (media/library aide)
1 semester of drama
1 semester of phys ed
2 years of trade school (automotive)

I commuted 44 miles per day for 4 years of high school.

I really don't see where this plan is much different than what is already offered.

Gail Said:

I have been searching for a publisher for my novel, what am I doing wrong?

We Answered:

What you're doing wrong is searching for a publisher. If you want a publisher to read your work, you need a literary agent. You'll need to send out a few hundred query letters and see if any agents are interested in seeing your manuscript.

Try looking in Writer's Market or a similar publication for agents who represent novels like yours. Then, you have to read each agent's requirements carefully and submit accordingly.

Discuss It!
