Writing For Business Course

Sylvia Said:

Would this writing course be worth it?

We Answered:

I'd maybe get hold of one or both of Ms Ruston's books to see if you want to learn how to write like she does. Writers' Workshop is one of the better-known teaching companies in Britain, so it's maybe worth a shot. Fifty quid a lesson sounds a bit steep, but I'm not sure how much time they spend on you for that.

Please correct for grammar?

We Answered:

the only error I could spot was on the second line. I believe it should be "School's" rather than "schools" of if you are fererring to more than 1 school, it owuld be schools'

Kirk Said:

Please help with resume? 10 points?

We Answered:

Absolutely. Especially for an internship where they may not expect you to have prior work experience.

Concentrate on positive things that show team involvement. Secretary of the such and such club. Member of an organization. The writing course would come under education I think.

You can also use a heading for Skills and list the computer experience especially if your internship requires that experience. Mention Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, etc. if you have been trained on them or if you really do know how to use them beyond the point of typing a letter or making a couple of posters.

You should include a cover letter where you kind of sell yourself. Be sure to start with something like "I a really excited to enter the workplace to gain real time experience" or something like that.

Accounting and CPA Question?

We Answered:

You are allowed to take the CPA test in a different state than the one you studied in (I did). It's the same test no matter where you take it.

However, while I took the exam with a bachelor's degree many years ago, the eligibility has gotten to tougher. In Florida you need 24 semester hours of Accounting *and* 24 semester hours of Business Classes...(no overlaps). This often makes the coursework a 5 year degree.
