What might cause a business to fall short of their financial goal??

We Answered:

What's a financial goal? A $$$ amount /profit set initially, that wasn't reached by the company. You ask why a company can have the misfortune to NOT be profitable?

Look around you...listen to the news. GM and Ford have not met some financial goals because people stopped buying their products (because the cars are not what the customers want -customers want smaller, effcient cars). When customers don't like and don't buy whatever you're making...you won't make that nice profit! Your merchandise will sit there.

Another reason..let's say you have just started the company -a flower shop. It's all nice and lovely but nobody knows about it. You don't advertise it well so customers don't come. So you don't sell the flowers and you don't make a profit. You might even lose the money you put in to open the business.

Other reasons for falling short on a financial goal -bad sales force (let's say at car dealerhip we have some sales agents that don't manage to sell the cars..).

Let's get a bird's eye view on this...while a company may have its own fault for not being profitable ( bad products, poor sales force, bad advertising, poor customer service, poor location)...there are reasons that can make a company unprofitable that are not under its control -the state of the ECONOMY as a whole...for example if unemployment is high, people won't be as inclined to spend money on flowers and the flowershop may go out of business. People will cut off speding on things that are not really necessary.

Hope that gives you a start. Econ 101 is beautiful!

What are some nonverbal and verbal communications?

We Answered:

I do not know a lot of the nonverbal communications there, but one thing to know is that if you do not look Chinese yourself, they are more likley to understand your "weird gestures." The sites I have linked has some nonverbal communication advice as well as advice on doing business in China.
