If your classmates are divided up into lots of cliques who hardly speak, think of a group activity that would involve all groups like a fund raiser, a dance, a play or something that involves all. Our school celebrates St. Baldric's Day and many students and faculty shave their heads and raise money from sponsors for a worthy cause, all the guys can participate because their hair is short already and would grow back quickly, we also have a blood drive, a thanksgiving food basket drive, etc. Good for morale, all, because as you help others your self-esteem grows. We decorate the school several times a year and hang student artwork around the building. We planted a garden of hope to remember faculty who have passed away. We do peer tutoring and peer counseling and the athletes talk to the elementary students about good sportsmanship. Lots of ideas out there.

Ask near by colleges if they offer classes to individuals who want to perfect their English speaking abilities. If they say no then go to your city. Our City offers classes in English, free of charge if I am not mistaken. If your city does not offer any of these classes, which I doubt they will not, insist the refer you to someone who can assist you.

Become friends with people who speak English well and talk to them frequently. Even ask they correct you when you make a mistake. Learning from native speakers is the best way to learn a language effectively. Finally, READ a lot. Book after book after book, and so out loud! If you do not know how to pronounce a word ask someone. Or go to a online dictionary, some have a special key that when pushed will pronounce the word for you. In addition, do not read book such as Chaucer. Stick to magazines and news papers and such then gradually move up. Remember your goal is to perfect you speech not become a scholar overnight.

Don’t forget, you won’t master English over night. Be patient!
