Joshua Said:
What do I do for this internship? I think their avoiding me!! I'm puzzled.?We Answered:
I wouldn't worry. Generally news organizations are so busy with their day-to-day operations, they don't have a lot of time for less-pressing issues like Internships. So, I doubt he's intentionally avoiding you. You did the absolute right thing to say that you would check back with him in one week. You should definitely call him then. Being pro-active shows that you might be a dedicated worker. Just be polite, not pushy, and don't take up too much of his time on the phone. On a side note, this is a stressful time in the newspaper industry. Several papers have recently gone out of business because so many people are turning to the internet for news, instead of reading newspapers.
Good luck!

Does anyone have an MFA in creative writing or is in the program? We Answered:
Honestly, I think you need to take some writing workshop classes on your own and shore up a few of these problems before you apply. MFA programs aren't for people who have no prior experience and want to learn how to write better; they're for people who understand at least the basic techniques of fiction, are really, really close to writing on a professional level if they're not there already, and who need the credential so that they can try and make a living off of what they do by teaching. If you're going to apply anyway, then I don't know why you need an outside opinion, but I wouldn't give you great odds based on what you've described.
