Definitely "Dear Ms. Lastname" unless you are quite sure that this person prefers informal address. Since she referred to you by your first name, this *may* be the case, but it's always better to be slightly more formal until you know a person well.

Don't pay a bit of attention to the person who says that "Ms." is offensive. There are two forms of address in business letters: "Mr." for men and "Ms." for women, unless you have been specifically told that an individual woman prefers some other form of address. There is nothing "offensive" about it.

Just use an offline translation service or a good dictionary, like you said, ALL the online "translators" (I wouldn't even call them translators!) are utter RUBBISH.

thats what people do for those russian bride websites. thats your market. learn a second language that assists desperate men.
there are also jobs like this helping people write ointerview letters and prepare CV's. also in writing you can help write good quesry letters to publishers.
it could work. just open a website. many people with english as a second language wouls use it. also foreign students at high school who need help getting better grades.
Tap the asian market. I used to get paid to edit essays back at university. and they pay well.

normal people prefer messages written by people. and a girl, i would not like my BF sending me a love letter he did not write!

Business people are accustomed to typed letters, handwritten letters are time-consuming, hard to correct mistakes on and haave no advantage.

Thank you notes should be used at every opportunity and hand-written.
