Well, I won't give you the ideas, I'll try and help you get some

Write a plan, before writing the story, just write the *very main* scenes in chronological order - it's a rough guide so you know where you're heading and you're also flexible.

So, you have a character's biography - it's quite a hectic biography, I like the beginning and the ending, the middle, well it can either be really powerful or really cliche, so I might suggest on cutting a bit down - in fact if I were you, I'd add a nice character (i.e. an aunt), to help Susan cope, but then the aunt dies later, and Susan thinks she should become a nurse or something.

If not, you can also have a resolution - you should end the story with her stopping killing patients - so maybe she has a co-nurse, and they find out and try to stop her doing all of this. It could be inspirational or a like a character development.

If you choose the second story, well, just try writing however you want then edit much later - you can start with her killing a patient - it would be very powerful. (Wow, I'm loving this idea now). Then whilst she's doing it (although, thinking about it, I'm not sure if she's someone who'd get away with it, but this is fiction...) she could be thinking about if only someone had done that to her.

You don't really need to say it's in Britain - just make a fictional town, they speak English, and that's all that is relevant to the reader. What about - Greensdale? Or Mooreville? Or Woodsbridge?

When I read your question, I automatically think of Erin Brockovich. She is a legal clerk who had an instrumental hand in putting a case (and winning) against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in CA in 1993, despite her lack of formal Law education. I'm sure there are hundreds of books on her- biogrophies, autobiographies, as well as interviews she's had. There was also a movie based on her case against PG&E, starring Julia Roberts. I'm sure you may have heard of it.

Go to the library and see what you can find. You can also watch the movie if you want to; it's a good one.
