Write Minutes Business Meeting

Ronald Said:

Is there a cheap and easy way to sell a California S Corporation?

We Answered:

I suggest you BOTH consult a business attorney. Share the cost of an hour for him to discuss the issues. There are a myriad of liability and tax issues which could bite you both. There must be filings with the IRS, California Secretary of State, etc. etc.

Natalie Said:

Help me in minutes...?

We Answered:

Date: 9-7-2000

Minutes of today's meeting:

1 - The minutes of the last meeting were read and unanomously aproved by the board.

2- The treasurer reported that the board's treasury had received the funds and payed the bills.

3 - A new accountant, Delmer P Winkenhimer, was appointed. He starts work next month.

4 - It was agreed to raise the annual subscription rate

The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 PM

Kenneth Said:

What should I say to my "guy friend?"?

We Answered:

Just write like hey it was really great seeing you I hope to see more of you or something like that. I don't really know what your relationship with him is like so if you guys have a little inside joke that would be cute to put on there too.

Joyce Said:

Minutes of meeting... what are your tips or personal techniques on taking minutes of meeting?

We Answered:

If your school taught you how to take notes during lectures, the same principles will apply to taking minutes during a business meeting. Essentially, you need to record each topic, key points of discussion, and the final decision or next steps determined from the discussion. The person who leads the meeting should help guide the course of the meeting by this structure, but in reality this doesn't always happen and meetings can run astray.

Use of shorthand or symbols can help, so that you can record the essential items without having to write out long words. You probably will be able to make up your own abbreviations over time as well.

Use the meeting agenda to guide your note-taking, so that you don't have to write down each topic - just refer back to the agenda topics.
