- Money follows management. Investors look first at the people involved in the company. If you are just starting out and don’t have relevant experience, investors expect to see that you have an experienced team of advisors and employees helping you in the business.

- Make sure you “sell” the one reason your business will become profitable.

- State clearly the strategies you will employ to get the word out about your business. Your business plan must show how you will leverage the Internet, public relations, viral marketing, and other strategies to attract customers.

- Present realistic estimates of the time, energy and costs of building a successful business. Do not underestimate or overestimate revenues. While investors know your numbers are simply guesses, they want to see that your numbers are within the “range of reality.” Be careful of your financial statements: this is one area where you can easily lose credibility if presented poorly.

- Benchmark similar companies to show that you’ve done your homework and researched the market.

- Your Executive Summary is your calling card. If it is not a winner, investors may not even read your entire plan. Emphasize your own as well as your team’s track record in the Executive Summary.

- Before sending your business plan to lenders and investors, send it out first to a few in order to get feedback. You’d want to correct your plan if someone tells you that you’re way off mark, rather than have a potential investor tell it to you and lose the chance to get the funding you need.

Just think of what the consequences will be if you don't! Think that this time tomorrow it will over and done with so you need to make this sacrifice. And I know it may sound silly.. but don't get into bed with your laptop to do work ( I've taken work to bed and I don't usually last long after 10), stay at your desk with a strong cup of coffee.

Take little breaks as otherwise your work will suffer, just take 10 mins every 40 mins and do something that will wake u up, like videogames etc etc. But limit yourself to the 10 mins.

Oh yeah and try to avoid going on websites where you will waste lots of time at all tonight like facebook, yahoo answers, etc... i'm telling you from experience!

Opening your own business is a daunting experience, not to be taken lightly. Since I've participated in 5 startups (3 my own), I do have some advice for you:

- http://www.sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/… No, don't laugh. You need to start with baby steps, and the SBA has some good advice. I always go back to this every so often.

- Can't stress enough to find a mentor early on. Someone in the restaurant or franchise business that knows the ins and outs.

- Make sure you have some funding and friends/family funds to help you out, before you go for a loan.

- VISION. You need a vision, and you need to believe it with fanatical zeal. If you don't believe, how can someone else?

- Lastly, opening a new business IS HARD WORK. If you are unafraid of REAL challenges, sometimes on an everyday basis, then it is for you. If you are not willing to lose everything, then perhaps you may want to wait a little.
