Technical Writing Program

Catherine Said:

Is it too late to switch from writing to programming?

We Answered:

Ink and paper journalism is dead, but I think if you write well you shouldn't have a lot of trouble getting a job writing for a website.

Programming is a hell of a lot of work, excuse my language, so you better believe this will be a brutal change of pace if you still want to go through with it.

Vivian Said:

Any opinions on Austin Community College's Technical Communication program?

Maureen Said:

Technical writing as a career..?

We Answered:

You can definitly be a technical writer! You DON"T need an engineering degree! Don't listen to that guy! If you had an engineering degree, you would be an engineer. English is a good degree for this.

There are lots of oppertunities for technical writers. Grant writing and research writing might help. What's even better is technical courses in computer science, and engineering, etc.

Goodluck!

You may check your local library for training institutes. Alternatively, you may also approach websites for on the job experience by blogging and writing articles on topics.

Gertrude Said:

Where can I find technical documents?

We Answered:

WHoever you are working for should have some from previous jobs. It is entirely reasonable to ask what format they want and for some examples.
