Help with writing an essay...?

We Answered:

Yes, it is possible for you to win if you write a good enough essay. The issue of whether you actually can or not really depends upon the nature of the community in which you are living. If it is a larger community that is not very closely knit, and the scholarship is being decided on by a broad cross section of the community you will stand a good chance if you write a good essay. However, if it is a small community, where the same people have lived their whole lives there, and you just moved in four years ago, it will be harder, because the tendency of people to vote for those that they know well.

Arthur Said:

Are the Beatles the best example of phenomenal song writing taking precedence over technical skills?

We Answered:

The Beatles were above all songwriters, but Paul McCartney and George Harrison were both stellar musicians. Paul can play virtually instrument and even dabbles in classical music. George Harrison also played unconventional chords (listen to the All Things Must Pass demo sessions.) John Lennon has acknowledged that he was a good rhythm guitar player, but he often quipped that "somebody has to play it." Ringo well...even on some songs he does indeed have some excellent drumming, especially on the Revolver album (She Said She Said, Rain, and Tomorrow Never Knows are the best examples).

As far as revolutionizing pop music, there is no doubt that they did. But over time, there have been many other artists like that. Bob Dylan is the first example that comes to mind. He can't sing or play guitar especially well, but he is considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Like a Rolling Stone was described by Bruce Springsteen as "the door being blown open to your mind", even though there's nothing to say a virtuoso is playing on the track.

The Beatles were revolutionary; there are no two ways about it. However, you can't ignore the many artists who followed in their footsteps in a different way.

Martin Said:

Are there career placement agencies for people who do writing and/or editing?

We Answered:

Absolutely, there are placement agencies for all fields. They can be found on the web, but be careful about fee structures. Some are compensated by the potential employer, others by you (the job seeker). Contrary to what people think, writers, editors, proof readers are always in demand. Especially in today's blog world. Some pay very well.

You may wish to check out a company called LTS, they offer very valuable advice for someone like yourself. They are located at www.learntosucceed.biz. GOOD LUCK

Can you answer these interview questions if you are working in a job related to human resources?

We Answered:

B.S., Sociology + ongoing HR update classes

I tend to write as I would talk. Of course, I reread documents for typos, "tone", etc.

Clear writing is extraordinarily important. You can learn it all, but if you cannot put it into coherent, compelling, intelligent words, you are lost.

Time writing depends on the assignments I am working. The writing portion of my job is most dominant when I am documenting investigations.

I'm not sure what you mean by this question. I am on my computer, versus writing in longhand. I am in my home office, if you mean where am I physically.

My clients read my writing. Attorneys read my writing.

I write termination documents, investigation documents, data documents (such as providing compensation data from surveys, etc.). I write emails.
