Do a proposal for building a house. You should be able to easily get 15 pages out of that with all the systems and stuff.

Heidi Said:

i am an english honurs graduate.can a mba degree followed up by a course in technical writing be helpful to m?

We Answered:

I'd recommend you reverse the order. Do the course in technical writing first, get a job in that field, and work a couple of years. Then go back for the MBA. You'll be a stronger candidate after the MBA if you go this track.

Andrew Said:

Hi! I'm currently working in India and would like to do a course on technical writing in Toronto.?

We Answered:

Near Brampton (try in) is Sheridan College. Seneca College in Toronto has a good course in Tech writing (at least it was good when I took 25 years ago) I went to Sheridan 30 years ago. Took electronics technology at Seneca, Security and Law Enforcement at Sheridan. BTW when combined with experience both lead to the exact jobs I aimed at.

Alberto Said:

Any non-fiction or technical writing majors out there?

We Answered:

My brother majored in English and got his MA at Santa Cruz University, went into the Air Force and learned engineering, and is now a head tech writer for Google. He makes a lot of money.

I work at a major networking company in San Jose and we have tons of tech writers who have backgrounds like yours. Starting salary is $100k.

Journalism is the background required for newspapers, not non-fiction writing -- because reporting is the key skill required. You could write as a freelancer for magazines. But they make not so much money.

Cheryl Said:

where can i find a technical writing workshop in indianapolis?

We Answered:

I thought IUPUI used to offer such a course in their Continuing Education (non degree) program but I have been unable to unearth it.

I did come across this website - it might help if your employee is at a VERY basic level.
