Writing a Business plan?

We Answered:

I have always recommended that the owner write the plan, personally. Otherwise, it is the professional's plan, not yours. Start with software like BizPlan, I really like it. Then, if you want, have someone take a look at it.
BizPlan forces you to look at and think about issues you will inevitably face in your business. BizPlan is intuitave and easy to follow. I'm sure there are others out there, I just have experience with this product

How much to hire somebody to write a PROFESSIONAL irresitable business proposal?

We Answered:

Business proposals are extremely important for a lot of different reasons. Perhaps they are most important to the business person who has to sell their idea and plan to the banks, customers, investors, and others. Everyone needs to know what to expect, what the plan is, where the business is going, who the customer is, who the competition is, why your business is "the one" to fill a market niche. I'm sure that there are a lot of enterprising souls out there who "know everything there is to know" about writing business proposals, but you're the one that should do it, you are the one who needs to know the plan inside of your head. After you think you know the answers to all of the contingencies and all of the generalities, write it all down. Then after you have it written, find a cpa or someone else that knows the nuts and bolts of business and pay them to "review" what you've written. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions if you see something or they say something that you don't like or don't understand. Good Luck.

Where can I find a list of professional journals? What is a good professional business journal?

We Answered:

There are so many business journals serving the professionals; the best ones are those which serve the specific profession.

In general, please try:

* the Wall Street journal

* the Financial Times

* the Economist

to get an idea, references; then proceed from there to a deeper level of a specific field.

(for writing practices, the Wall Street and the Economist would do)
