Homework assignment? You do it first, then I'll look at it and let you know if there are any changes needed but I will not do your work for you.

Mark Said:

I have to write a Principle Of Business School Based Assessment and I have to write a section about government?

We Answered:

As your restaurant relates to govt regulations, you could address zoning for where your biz is located. Traffic can also be a consideration. Taxes maybe?

Ethical issues you can address hiring practices (diversity in your workforce). Also address practices of customer complaints (handle them equally and equitably, for example), purchasing decisions (do you only buy products from your family members, for example, therefore not having fair trade), etc.

Good luck, there is a lot of material you could cover here.

what are the principles of business writing?

We Answered:

"If you have a pile of leaves I don't care if you look at it from top, bottom, sideways, up-side-down, or backwards you still have a pile of leaves; rake them" Winston Churchill.

"It's about execution" Larry Bosidy (former CE0 Honeywell International

"Get it done" Jack Welch (CE0 General Electric)

You will notice that all these men say one thing... get the job done! That is the point!

"I didn't have time to write a 3 page paper so I wrote it in 20" John Nawrath VP HR Tycho (perhaps it was said by another first??)

The point is that a 20 page paper is easier to write then a 3 page one. Why?? Because that 20 page paper was never critiqued. Now what you have is a jumbled mess of 20 pages.

Listen I don't know about you but I don't have time to read 100 20 page papers... I need a 3 page paper that gets to the point. I am going to need to use your paper for my own work and if not I then another.

You must make sure there are no grammatical and spelling errors. If your errors are published say in the NY Times then there is a problem. If I have to continually critique your work as your boss then I don't care how good you are... you better get your act together. This is business and we have no time for bothersome laziness. Get it done and get it done right!!! The first time!

Some basic principles to follow are the following:

1) be consistent
2) be aware of who will be using your work and make it as convient to understand as possible
3) don't clutter random unrelated sentences into one paragraph... we need to have apples with apples and oranges with oranges... don't make me flip through the pages to find information about one item... they should have been writen together
4)be consistent
5)If you can take a word out... take it out
6)this isn't rocket science... everyone needs to understand these documents... everyone. The smaller the word the better... just get to the point!
7)be consistent
8)read over your work before you send it out. It seems like a waiste of time... but it waistes more company time having to critique your work and send it back to you... then have you type it again.. then we read it again.. get the picture???
9)Don't spend all day doing it yourself... if you need to know what the facts are talk to the professionals we have available to you... yea you know, your coworkers... yea like the CPAs on the premesis who we pay 100 dollars an hour too??? Yea he's here to help you with the financial stuff.... stop trying to reinvent the wheel on your own... GET IT DoNE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!
10) Be CoNSISTENT

note... this is not a business letter... "..." in a business letter is unexceptable but hey this is meant to be at my leasure not for work.

Hope I helped... GooD LUCK

You gave me a thumbs down???? Are you in school?? Do you work for a company?? Cause I don't know what kind of answer you could possibly be looking for. This is how it is... if you don't revise your work and stay consistent you will not make it in the business world.. .thats a promise

and by the way the average person takes under 30 seconds to look at your letter... not 3 miniutes. I got my old Business composition book out for that one. Its not 3 miniutes.

Discuss It!
