We Answered:

Professional letters are supposed to be flush left. Your name and address goes at the top, then the date, then "RE:" with whatever the letter is about after it, and then the body of the letter. I usually close with something like "Respectfully," or "Sincerely,"
followed by my signature, with my name and title following that. If you are also sending a copy to someone else, you put c: with the person's name at the bottom. If you are enclosing something, you put "enc."

Asking a Prof. to "Help" or sponsor your business is very fraught with danger! He will absolutely have to say NO - because if he says Yes, I'll help you, everyone else he has ever said no to - will be on his case! So listen very carefully- do not ask for his help directly in your project - but present your case in the following manner - Prof. I could use your criticism and help in FINDING the right person to move this project forward! If he can refer you to another prominent business connection - that's fine! Just go for "advice" for now.

"We would refer you in particular to the undermentioned products and we should be obliged if you might suggest those of your products which would yield the best results within our environment"
