Lee Said:

Is Creative Writing with Business a good major choice?

We Answered:

It's a fantastic choice. Very marketable.

Sheila Said:

i'm happy in my new business career, but i'm having to sacrifice some creative goals (writing/publishing)...?

We Answered:

Surely you have ten minutes spare per day? Write then.

I don't understand "the interest of readers." If publishing is a _goal_ for you (i.e. not something you have achieved) how do you have readers yet? You can't post your work on the open internet and then expect publishers to be interested in it - you've used up the first rights.

Henry Said:

I need help writing a slogan to put on my business cards. Any creative people out there?

We Answered:

Here are some great ones

It's all about your child

Where learning takes you higher

I am like a granny, I am a nanny

My name is annie, and I am your nanny

Where children are special people

The nurturing nanny

Laughter, learning, and lots of love and care

Valerie Said:

Business Economics vs. Creative Writing?

We Answered:

I would speak with your counselor. Maybe he or she can guide you into a major which would allow you to incorporate writing with business. A major/minor... or a possible double major??

Gene Said:

Where could a degree in business, creative writing, and Media and Marketing get me in life?

We Answered:

Choose a career in something you are passionate about. You'll have a blast during your whole life. If you love what you're doing, you'll find a way to be successful at it. Never choose a career for the money. You'll live to regret it.

All four of the career paths you listed are related and overlap in many ways. It is possible to do them all at the same time to some degree, but it is likely that one or maybe two areas will become the dominant direction your career will take.

Creative writing or journalism is creative, media is the production process that delivers the creative content. Marketing creates interest in the content and develops the revenue stream. Business manages and distributes the revenue generated by the creative content.

By the time you start college, you'll have a better sense of what career path you want to take, or if you are lucky, you'll discover it earlier. It's never too early to start preparations. Success takes discipline. Get good grades, and most of all, READ every moment you can. It will make you smart and wise about a lot of things in the world.

If you pursue something you love, you won't care how much of your life is consumed doing it. You won't pursue all three. It would also cost you at least 200K to obtain 3 degrees. It wouldn't be practical or fun.

Discuss It!
