Sounds like your GPA might hurt you but you have excellent extracurriculars. I'm not sure how high that SAT score is (I took the ACT) but you can check what the average SAT and GPA are from the Northeastern website.

I don't think you're a shoo-in for schools 1-5, but most people aren't. The big problem is that for schools like Penn, any SAT score below a 700 is cause for concern. (Crazy, I know, but that's the kind of competition you're dealing with.) If you think you can improve on that critical reading and chemistry score, it might be worth your while to try again, even if it means waiting until the regular decision period to apply. Other than that, all you can do is work hard on your essays and give it your best shot.

As a side note, I don't recommend Hopkins if business interests you. They're putting a lot of investment into developing that department right now, but I don't think it'll pay off in time to do you much good.

All that i can say , good decission and let him join , as long as you are financially strong enough to support , i would say he can take that risk , but then if you want to take a loan then i wouldn't recommend this course. It all again depends on how you manage money .
But i heard that it's good for those who prove themselves. Your son really needs to work very hard. So decission is yours.
