Wayne Said:

Can you please look over my fake job letter for a superintendent ? ?

We Answered:

I agree with the previous grammar and spelling tips. One task I might set for one of my students would be to ask whether you could change the first paragraph such that it isn't about you, but about the school district and how you will put your qualifications to work FOR the district. For example, you could do your (pretend) homework on the district and find out that it is award-winning or something else stellar and describe how you would support the continuation of those achievements.

In short, potential employers don't want to know about you so much as they want to know what you will do for them. Make sense? I think my profile allows emails, so if you want to give it a try and send it to me, I will look at it for you.

One more thing: Enclosed ARE my resume and Standard. . . . Recheck your abbreviation of Enclosures; better yet, spell it out.

Writing a personal letter of reference for court..help?

We Answered:

Unfortunately without knowing more about the circumstances it is difficult to give advice about how to proceed. However, some general advice I might offer follows:

1. Create the letter in a word processor, and utilize a standard business format. The fewer frills the better. Do an Internet search query and include the words, sample or template or format and the word business or legal and you should get some examples of ideas. I would recommend block formatting as it is the most simplistic in my opinion.
Also, professionalism means rendering a letter that has been spell checked and is clean and legible without horrible grammatical errors, slang or other more casual communication styles.

2. Be sure to identify yourself including your address and phone numbers or email addresses where a legal entity or party can verify your identity and the contents of your letter.

3. K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple sweetheart. In other words, depending upon your relationship with the person for whom you are writing this letter, you need to be concise, and stick to only the things you know for a fact. Do not go overboard because ultimately your signature and reputation are being associated with what you are authoring. Thus, being general and only offering what you know about the person is better than offering things that you hope to be true about him or her or ASSUME to be correct or true.

Good luck in your preparation and email if I can be of further assistance.
