Is the government trying to give socialized internet access so they can monitor people better?

We Answered:

They already do through the library. ACORN does it. I know two people who have accounts FREE thanks to ACORN and you access it through your HOUSE not the library.

what happened to John McCain?

We Answered:

That's a lot to make someone read!

Yes, McCain did bad things. And he didn't feel bad about them until he was caught. And then he helped write and sponsor a wonderful campaign finance reform bill, which the rest of his party hated and insisted wasn't necessary.

MANY MANY politicians I've heard or read over the last few years, once they were out of public life had told stories of the snarky, questionable things they did to get into office or stay there. Jerry Brown, once governor of California, used to have a radio program on Pacifica network in Berkeley where he talked about current politicians and mentioned the kinds of things he himself did during his political career. Warren Ruddman is another one.

McCain -was- a maverick, certainly as Republicans go. Not a choirboy certainly but relatively honest and straightforward, deceptive and dishonest enough to get elected but no more than necessary. He was -THE- maverick of the 2000 election until the South Carolina primary, when his own party aimed the smear machine at him.

Then he went off to lick his wounds and decided he should be a team player. He realigned all his opinions and positions to line up with the Party Agenda. And he hasn't been the same person since. To paraphrase whomever, he would not rather be right than president, he'd rather be president even if he has to be a crook.

I used to have some respect for the guy. If he was running as an independent, able to come up with his own policy and proposals and agenda, I might even vote for him. But the kind of presidency he is shooting for is just a continuation of Bush's presidency, as the spokesman for the GOP agenda, which hasn't really changed since 2000. The people in his administration actually making decisions and policies would even be the same people! Who wants to vote for that? 8^P
